Warning: Heavy feels T^T

Arthur's muffled sobs rang out in the dusty storage room. Alfred could only hold him in his arms in silence. He was someone so lively that the young man thought that he'd never die.

His words reverberated in his mind.

"I can tell you everything that you want to hear."

The dying man shook as he spoke. "I'm sorry, Alfred. I truly am..."

"Hold you close and call you dear."

Arthur let out a weak chuckle. "You must hate me, don't you?"

"But if it isn't the truth..."

"Then how can my words possibly reduce..."

"The pain."

"The sorrow."

"The tears in your heart."

"If I can't be honest..."

"Then I don't know where to start."
He needed to tell him the truth, but he didn't know how.

"Life is harsh and unforgiving," He couldn't bring himself to speak.

Arthur clutched onto him, gripping for life. "Maybe it would've been better if I wasn't here in the first place... You would have found someone better to take care of you... One that you wouldn't want to leave."

"...but how can you say that it's not worth living?" Alfred thought to himself.

Letting out a sigh filled with sadness and despair, he struggled to whisper out his words.

"I'm here."

"I'm listening."

"To all of your cries."
He shut his mouth once more.

"So why can't you see that I don't want to say goodbye?" His voice echoed in his head. Loosening his grasp on the dying nation, he continued to talk.

"I need you."

"I care."

Arthur interrupted him. "Y-you don't need a dying old man like me..." He whimpered into Alfred's shirt. "I-I... I'm useless and-"

"Just shut up and listen!" He looked into the surprised beautiful green eyes that stared back up at him.

"I'm crying too..." He took in a deep breath and closed his eyes, unable to look at the sight of those marvelous eyes glazing over with death.

"But it's not only for you."

"It's for us."
He tightened his grip around the limp, fragile frame that belonged to the once powerful man.

"And for all that I care because..."

"Well..."

Alfred's tears blurred his vision and flowed down his cheeks onto the lifeless body of someone that he deeply cared for. Emotionless eyes stared back up at him, the last of his tears dried up staining his once perfect face. Alfred buried his face into Arthur's cold shoulder and sobbed uncontrollably before choking out what he had wanted to say. What he had always wanted to say, but never had the courage to.

"Hey Arthur..?" He shook as he whispered to the corpse.

"I love you."

This was originally just a plain poem, but then I thought it would be better if Alfred was the one saying to for me.

This was supposed to have a happy ending... Welp, sorry for the feels, readers...Emoji18 Chisaki Crying Icon Miuna Crying Icon
